Based on the outskirts of a lively City Centre, this higher education provider is situated within 10 minutes walk of town with excellent parking facilities nearby.
The property management department is made up of 2 teams, one responsible for an impressive capital works programme, the other for a large maintenance schemes.
The office does not possess a drawing board, so it is essential that potential employees are 100% CAD literate and can be self supporting from an administration point of view.
Projects carried out range in value from a few pounds to Ј250k on the maintenance side and from Ј250 to cЈ8million on the capital side. Works larger than this are project managed in house and delivered via external consultants.
While they admit they are not the best payers in the region due to budget constraints, they offer the opportunity to work within an in-house property team on an outstanding range of projects including very high specification research facilities that is hard to match elsewhere.
There is also a very relaxed culture within the offices where temporary workers are welcomed as being part of the team.
Working as M&E Clerk of Works you will be responsible for checking the work of contractors on numerous projects up to Ј1m in value.
The schemes will include teaching facilities, laboratories, workshops and art spaces.
You will be asked to cover several projects spread over a small geographic area at the same time to ensure that the work is being carried out to specifications laid out in the contract and to the required quality standards.
The focus of the role is on mechanical building services and you will also be expected to check work carried out on the electrical aspects of a scheme.
